Activities / Attractions
Fishing Trip: Take your next fishing trip to Lake of the Woods. Lake of the Woods and the surrounding lakes provide excellent angling for six species of fish: Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Muskie, Crappie & Lake trout.
Hunting Trips: Red Deer Lodge on Lake of the Woods offers whitetailed deer, grouse, geese and fall black bear hunting trips.
Birdwatching: Birdwatching is a sport all in it's own, make sure you bring your camera while on your Ontario vacation in Nestor Falls, as you will not to miss a good shot.
Nature Photography: Many of our visitors love the outdoors and spending time hiking on our trails that wind through the forests of Northwestern Ontario, if you are one of them you will sure enjoy all the nature photography available to you.
Angling
Northern Pike: Known for its savage striking & fighting, northern pike are abundant in shallow water during spring & fall months on Lake of the Woods. Most pike are in the 2 to 8 lb. range, with trophies up to 40 inch plus caught & released each season.
Muskie: Sabaskong Bay is famous for its first-class musky fishery. Here you definitely have a good shot at a fish over 50 inches and exceeding 40 pounds. Go to Lake of the Woods Muskie fishing this year.
Walleye: Walleye are one of our most sought-after & popular fish, quite abundant in Sabaskong Bay on Lake of the Woods just minutes from our lodge. Sought after for their excellent eating qualities, especially fresh filleted & for our popular shore lunches.
Smallmouth Bass: Smallmouth bass fishing on our local rocky shorelines & sand bars of Lake of the Woods are very scrappy fighters & aggressive jumpers. With alot of new interest in fly fishing. They range 1-3 lbs, with several trophies in the 4 & 5 lb. category.
Lake Trout: We fish the deep, clear waters of Crow Lake and Whitefish Bay, within 3 miles of the camp, for Lake Trout. Good catches in the 3 to 8 lb. range with fish up to 16 to 18 lb. are caught.
Crappie: Excellent shallow-water, early-season crappie fishing close to camp and off our docks at times, great fall fishing, deep-water jigging within 3 miles of the camp. Abundant fish in the 10 to 15 inch range, which provide excellent fillets & eating.
Largemouth Bass: Largemouth bass are also available on Lake of the Woods, which is one of the few lakes in Northwestern Ontario that offer largemouth fishing.
Hunting
Deer: The Nestor Falls, Ontario area is a popular area for a canadian deer hunting trip, with abundant deer in our region your chances of success are very good. At Red Deer Lodge we offer package rates for hunting.

Grouse: For a Canadian hunting trip enjoy fall fishing on Lake of the Woods combined with grouse hunting.
Marine
Paddle Boats: While on your family vacation at Red Deer Lodge paddle boats are available for you to enjoy Lake of the Woods on a warm summer day.
Fishing Boats: Our fishing boat rentals are late model 16 ft. Nadens, equipped with swivel seats, cushions, paddles, life jackets and safety gear, powered by new 25 h.p. Yamaha motors. Each boat is supplied with two gas tanks and is serviced daily.

Housekeeping Cabins: Twelve CLEAN & comfortable lakefront housekeeping cabins on Lake of the Woods accommodate two to eight persons each. They are fully equipped for housekeeping with electric, hot & cold running water, showers, flush toilets, wash basins & propane heat.
Cabin Rentals: For a canadian vacation in Nestor Falls, Ontario, at Red Deer Lodge we have 12 lakefront cabins available for our guests. These cabin rentals are fullly equipped ensuring you a great fishing trip on Lake of the Woods, Ontario.

Fishing: Our fishing guides allow one follow boat for walleye and northern fishing only at extra charge, no follows on Muskie fishing. They also prepare excellent shore lunches!
Day Trips: Twin Lakes, our day trip fly-in lake provides outstanding, and I mean outstanding catch and release Smallmouth bass fishing and also contains numerous Muskies! We also arrange day fly-in trips and float plane rides through our local charter service.
Drive In Access: Drive in to our beautiful log lodge on Lake of the Woods in Nestor Falls, Ontario and enjoy modern lakefront housekeeping cabins that provide excellent accommodations for fishermen and families, with a relaxing atmosphere in a true Canadian setting.
